Umlautie Dotties

I really appreciate the way this tat uses a simple letterform but can still look pretty interesting as a shape. This guy wanted to get a tattoo using letterforms he found beautiful, and I think he did a good job in choosing one. He chose to use a lower case "u" in a bold stroke using the font Meta. He added a spice of character to it using the Umlaut characters above the letterform to give it a nice elegant touch.

that's a large letterform to have on the back of you...but great type, looks like univesal or helvetica...interesting overall...

i really like the boldness of the letterform that he chose, it's a great tattoo overall. the dots on the top add more of a dimension to the entire work, as opposed to it just being a block form. i really like the typeface used and it's simplicity, i don't think serifs would have worked well with the type of design he was trying to get across. i really like it, and i think the scale is complementary to the form.
