white van
I bumped into this awesome white van on the creepy streets of Deep Ellum in Dallas this Saturday with Lindsay…after crashing the protest of angry hippies. The van was advertising a vintage clothing store… a sign on wheels if you will. The typeface seems to be a modern version of some old Gothic scripts typical of the 19th century. The term vintage refers to something old and high quality…what better way to illustrate that then with a classic old typeface?

you are right it does give it a very vintage feel. The bright contrast between the white van and the black text really gives a modern feel to it, which is good because they want people to see that vintage is a new trend and that its a neat place to go.
Sweet stuff...the typeface makes the van look really hardcore. It contrasts with the Counter Culture logo, which is more contemporary and less historical.
This gives it a vintage feel, but also a modern twist. This typeface is definitely different than the t-shirt above yours, but in a good way don't get me wrong. The less elaborate and varying strokes gives it a modern appeal while still holding the vintage aspect. It also reminds me of Miami Ink's logo for their show--i love that show!

The use of an old english like font for this van is kind of reminiscent of the clothing brand Famous stars and stripes, and many other brands coming up. Still, I like the way designers who create these shirts and other vintage designs combine the use of elegant and goth-like fonts with contemporary icons.
